MEET SOPHIE!
Following a successful career in the performing arts as executive and artistic director, Sophie Painchaud chose to further her knowledge of human communication. She attended Smith College where she focused on cultural studies and theatre, and New York University’s School of Culture & Communication from which she holds a M.A. in Speech & Interpersonal Communication.
Throughout her career, her goal has always been to provide an environment that promotes creativity and awareness. She has worked and collaborated with numerous public officials, renowned writers and artists, and non-profit organizations. For her, it was a natural progression to become an educator, and she finds that it is a great privilege to encourage students to reflect on identity and community, explore cultural understanding, and embrace diversity. She has taught at Marymount Manhattan College, Florida Keys Community College and is now Associate Professor of Communication at State University of New York-Suffolk Community College.
Sophie is a member of Actors Equity Association, and the National and Eastern Communication Associations.
